Vol. 370 No. 14

Written Answers. - Galway Land Division.

94.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a commonage (details supplied) in County Galway will be divided; and the reason for the delay in dividing the commonage.

Every effort will be made to divide this commonage as quickly as possible, but having regard to the reduced field staff now available for all land settlement work I cannot say when this will be done.

95.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the number of young farmers who have qualified under EC Regulation 797/85 for installation aids for young farmers.

110.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the number of young farmers who have qualified for grants under the installation aids scheme since its inception; the amount of money paid out in total under this scheme so far; the amount that is fully funded by the European Economic Community; the total number of applications received for the scheme to date; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 95 and 110 together.

At the end of September 1986, the latest date for which statistics are available, 204 applications had been received by ACOT under the scheme of installation aid for young farmers. Of the applications processed by ACOT at that date, 13 have been received by the Department for further processing. To date, no installation premiums have been paid under the scheme. Expenditure under the scheme is eligible for 50 per cent FEOGA recoupment.

96.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when an application for a grant was received from a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and how soon he expects to be in a position to sanction the grant.

There is no record of receipt of a land drainage application from the person named.

97.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a cattle headage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The herd of the person named will be re-inspected shortly to ascertain if cows which had not calved at first inspection on 24 July 1986 have now calved. If following the second inspection the application is in order, the person named will then be paid his 1986 cattle headage, suckler cow and calf premium grants.
