Vol. 371 No. 2

Written Answers. - Disabled Persons Maintenance Allowance.

178.

asked the Minister for Health if a person (details supplied) in County Wexford will be awarded an increased rate of disabled persons maintenance allowance, as he has no other means.

The amount of disabled persons maintenance allowance payable in any individual case is a matter for determination by the health board concerned, having regard to all the relevant circumstances in that case.

I have had inquiries made from the South Eastern Health Board in this case and I have been informed that, having regard to the income which the person concerned is getting from the family farm, an increase in the allowance is not warranted.

If the applicant is not satisfied with the assessment of means which has been made by the health board, he may write to the Programme Manager, Community Care, South Eastern Health Board, Lacken, Dublin Road, Kilkenny and the matter will be reviewed.
