Vol. 371 No. 2

Written Answers. - Income Tax Deduction.

21.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason a person (details supplied) in County Wexford has such a large rate of tax deducted from his gross pay on the social employment scheme; and if he will review the matter.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that, on the basis of a return of income completed by the taxpayer on 6 January 1987, a certificate of tax free allowances for 1986-87 was issued to him on 28 January 1987. On the basis of that certificate all the tax which was deducted from the taxpayer's earnings since the commencement of his employment on 1 December 1986 was refunded to him by his employer on 6 February 1987.
