A grant for house improvements cannot in any case exceed two-thirds of the approved cost as estimated by the Department's inspector or of the cost of carrying out the work, whichever is the lesser. The actual costs of the works done in this case as notified by the applicant were less than the approved costs on the strength of which a grant of £2,000 had been approved. The amount of the grant paid (£1,667) was based on the actual costs incurred in having the work undertaken and no further payment is due.
