Vol. 371 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

163.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange the immediate payment of a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

This application under the 1981 scheme was in respect of the building of a bathroom and an extra bedroom to relieve overcrowding. A bathroom grant could not be allowed as such a facility already existed in the house. Neither could a bedroom grant be allowed as the existing sleeping accommodation was considered adequate. The applicant has been so informed.

Notification of completion of the works has not been received.

165.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for the immediate inspection of a new house built by a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and if he will arrange payment of a grant.

A final inspection was carried out in this case recently and arrangements are now being made for the payment of a £2,000 grant.

166.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in the payment of a new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

The grant was paid on 6 February 1987.

167.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether a house improvement grant will be increased for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford in view of the documentation provided showing that the costing was higher than his Department estimated.

The grant of £2,000 approved for the building of an extension is the maximum available.
