asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport the plans, if any, he has to expand the training facilities at the Galway meteorological station; and whether discussions have taken place to link meteorological training with faculties at University College, Galway.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 39 and 40 together.
A major review of the structure and organisation of the meteorological service in my Department was carried out in 1986. The report of that review is at present under consideration. It would not be appropriate for me to comment on the issues raised in these questions pending the outcome of the consideration I have referred to.
