My Department has sanctioned a grant towards the cost of improvement works at Waterville national school, County Kerry and has asked its professional advisers to arrange with the school authorities to have the works carried out. The works are of such nature that they could conveniently be carried out during the 1987 summer vacation period.

asked the Minister for Education when work will commence on a new national school at Faha, Killarney, County Kerry.
My Department has agreed in principle to grant-aid the provision of a new national school at Faha, County Kerry and a sketch scheme for the project has been submitted. My Department recently wrote to the school authorities outlining a proposal whereby serviceable existing accommodation could be remodelled, and additional accommodation provided in suitable stages. My Department await a response to this proposal, with a view to authorising the preparation of tender documentation. I am not in a position at this stage to say when work on the project will commence.

Tender documentation for the new national school at Douglas, Killorglin, County Kerry has been prepared.
A decision on the question of inviting tenders for the project will be conveyed in due course to the school authorities subject to final clarification of the 1987 level of funding in favour of my Department for the national schools building programme.
