Vol. 371 No. 7

Written Answers. - Milk Cessation Scheme.

27.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a co-op (details supplied) in County Kerry applied for inclusion in the milk cessation scheme; and when they were released from the scheme.

The application referred to was received in the Department on 30 December 1986. However, the application which related to leased land subsequently had to be regarded as invalid by the Department as the landlord and tenant involved did not agree on the allocation of the proposed compensation payments. A requirement to reach such an agreement is an essential rule of the scheme.

28.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if the previous application of a person (details supplied) in County Galway for the milk cessation scheme will be taken into consideration for the new scheme.

The arrangements for the second stage of the cessation scheme under which a further 11.3 million gallons of milk are to be bought have not yet been finalised. I will be making an announcement in the matter shortly.
