Vol. 371 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dublin Gas.

23.

asked the Minister for Energy the financial implications of the measures being implemented by Dublin Gas to deal with the safety shortcomings which have recently come to light in surveys of the network; and the bearing this will have on the terms of the proposed takeover by Bord Gáis Éireann.

I am advised by the receiver of Dublin Gas that a survey of the network in the vicinity of multi-storey apartments revealed a requirement to replace small bore cast iron pipes at an approximate cost of £2.5 million.

However, a survey of the entire network is underway at present and the cost implications of that survey will not be known until the report becomes available in some eight weeks time.

The view which has been taken by BGE in formulating the bid it made is such that these financial implications will not have an effect on the bid terms.
