As I indicated in my budget speech on 1 April 1987, I have begun an examination of activities in the science and technology area in the agencies under the aegis of this Department with a view to putting together a science and technology programme that would initially address the priority areas of action. The activities mentioned by the Deputy will be considered in that context and I would hope to be able to make an early announcement in the matter.
