Vol. 371 No. 9

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Benefits.

163.

asked the Minister for Health the reason the disabled person's maintenance allowance of a person (details supplied) in County Galway was reduced from £119.45 per week to £91.

The amount of disabled persons maintenance allowance payable in any individual case is a matter for determination by the health board concerned, having regard to all the relevant circumstances in that case.

I have had inquiries made from the Western Health Board in this case and I have been informed that, in the course of a regular review of claimants the person's changed circumstances were noted and his allowance was reduced accordingly.

If the applicant is not satisfied with the assessment which has been made by the health board, he may write to the Programme Manager, Community Care, Western Health Board, Regional Hospital, Merlin Park, Galway and the matter will be reviewed.
