Vol. 372 No. 1

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

234.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for immediate payment of a £2,000 new house grant originally passed in September 1985, subsequently refused, and passed again in February 1987, and payment of a £1,000 mortgage subsidy due to a person (details supplied) in County Offaly, because of the severe hardship caused by two re-examinations of his case since he was originally deemed eligible in September 1985.

There is no record of the receipt of an application for a new house grant from the person named at the address given. There is, however, an application from a person with a broadly similar name and address and in that case a new house grant will be paid within the next few weeks.

Payment of the first instalment of the mortgage subsidy will be made when the applicant submits a claim form, duly completed and certified by the lending agency.

235.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary and, if not, the reason.

Approval to a grant cannot be given pending receipt of certain documentation requested from the applicant.

236.

asked the Minister for the Environment whether a house improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Tipperary; and, if not, the reason.

The question of payment does not arise at this stage as the approval of a grant cannot be finally considered pending receipt of certain information requested from the applicant.

237.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a person (details supplied) in County Sligo who received approval for a house improvement grant, and at the time of the cessation of the grants scheme was awaiting approval for some amendments to the original list of works, still qualifies for an original grant and for the amendments for which he is awaiting approval.

Notification of an increased grant has issued.

238.

asked the Minister for the Environment if a £2,250 new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Dublin, 13.

This application is for a mortgage subsidy for a previously occupied house and consequently payment of a new house grant does not arise. Documentation requested from the applicant is awaited.
