Vol. 372 No. 2

Written Answers. - Public Utilities.

99.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will intervene to bring about some co-ordination between the various public utilities in the Dublin city area, in view of the increasing number of openings which are being undertaken in Dublin, and the findings of the former Dáil Committee on Public Expenditure which indicated that there was a financial benefit to the various utilities in not returning these openings to the local authority for permanent reinstatement; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Dublin Transport Authority has specific powers to issue directions to statutory undertakers and local authorities in relation to road openings. I am satisfied that these powers are adequate to ensure proper co-ordination.
