asked the Minister for Education the present position in relation to the application for new premises by Clonmel's school for the handicapped in Limerick.

My Department has agreed to grant-aid the provision of a new school building to replace the existing accommodation occupied by St. Gabriel's Special School, Dooradoyle, County Limerick. The proposed new building is to be part of a larger scheme which it is understood will be part-funded by the health authorities. The brief for the educational element of the proposed scheme is at present being finalised in my Department following the recent receipt of a report on a review carried out by its inspectorate as to the likely long term enrolment levels at the school. A communication will be sent as soon as possible to the school authorities about the matter.
