The latest information available to me is included in a tabular statement which I propose to circulate in the Official Report. I do not have available to me information on the number of doctors who emigrate on qualification but it is likely to be very small given the necessity for newly qualified doctors to serve one year of internship here before being eligible for full registration. I am satisfied that we are producing an adequate supply of doctors to meet the needs of the country.
I do not have the per-capita cost of educating doctors but I intend to have a study of unit costs in third-level education carried out which should provide this type of information.
