39.

asked the Minister for Finance if temporary tourist guides are being employed by his Department this year at Cahir Castle, County Tipperary; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

40.

asked the Minister for Finance the number of temporary tourist guides employed by his Department throughout the country in 1986; and the number of temporary tourist guides who will be employed by him this year.

I propose to take questions Nos. 38, 39 and 40 together. The number of temporary guide-information officers employed by the Commissioners of Public Works in 1986 was 106 and the corresponding figure for 1987 will be 109. This includes four temporary guide-information officers for Clonmacnoise, County Offaly and six for Cahir Castle, County Tipperary but does not include the 15 part time guides engaged at Kilmainham Gaol which was taken over by the Office of Public Works in 1986.
