Vol. 372 No. 4

Written Answers. - Meath Sheltered Workshop.

193.

asked the Minister for Health (a) the number of places currently available at the sheltered workshop in Navan, County Meath, for handicapped children; (b) whether he anticipates that there will be any extension of this facility over the next 18 months; and (c) the number of children in the Navan catchment area who are likely to be seeking places in the sheltered workshop over the next two years.

I assume that the Deputy is referring to the Meath Sheltered Workshop. (a) There are 50 places in this workshop; 44 of these places are currently occupied; (b) I am not aware of any proposal to extend this facility over the next 18 months; (c) It has been estimated by the North-Eastern Health Board that about four children from the Navan catchment area are likely to seek places in the workshop over the next two years.
