The first school referred to by the Deputy completed one year's operation of a project under the social employment scheme on 30 January 1987 and applied for an extension to the project. In order to remain within the budget provided for the social employment scheme in 1987, participation quotas have been allocated for each NMS region. The south-east region has a substantial list of projects awaiting clearance to commence. While approval has been given to extend the project at the school in question, it may be some time before clearance can be given to commence.
No applications have been received for assistance under the social employment scheme from the other two schools referred to.
