Vol. 372 No. 8

Written Answers. - Transport Facilities.

126.

asked the Minister for Health if, as a matter of urgency he will intervene to ensure the continuation of the provision of transport to the child and family centre, Ballyfermot, Dublin 10, beyond 15 May; if his attention has been drawn to the necessity of the transport service to the child centre; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

127.

asked the Minister for Health if his attention has been drawn to the severe problems that will arise from 15 May next when the minibus service for child therapy service at the Eastern Health Board's child and family care centre in Castleknock, Dublin 15 is discontinued; if he will take steps to ensure that the £18,000 needed for the service is provided; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

132.

asked the Minister for Health if he will ensure that the Eastern Health Board continues to supply transport facilities for all those children receiving treatment on a weekly basis at the special playgroup and therapy unit in St. James's Hospital, Dublin 8; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 126, 127 and 132 together. The provision of transport facilities in respect of the child and family services referred to by the Deputies is a matter for the Eastern Health Board. I have made inquiries of the Eastern Health Board and I understand that the decision to discontinue the transport service to these facilities is part of an overall package of measures drawn up by the board in order to operate within its 1987 revenue allocation. The board has indicated however that it will be prepared to review individual cases to ensure continuing attendance at these clinics.
