Vol. 373 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

79.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a farm improvement grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

A grant of £1,306 will be paid shortly together with a number of other grants certified about the same time.

80.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when cattle headage payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Wexford in view of the level of land usage he has in a disadvantaged area.

The person named has a share of commonage in a more severely handicapped area but this share is less than the minimum 7.5 statute acres required under the terms and conditions of the 1986 cattle headage scheme. He also has other lands some of which are understood to be situated in an area designated as disadvantaged for sheep headage purposes only and the remainder outside the disadvantaged areas. The exact area of his lands is being verified at present by my Department's field staff and his case will be considered further when his overall acreage has been ascertained.

He has been paid 1986 calf premium scheme grant already. He did not apply under the 1986 suckler cow scheme.

81.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a person (details supplied) in County Clare will be paid a farm modernisation grant.

This grant is being processed at present and payment will be made as soon as possible.

82.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when installation aid will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

An installation premium is payable only where full ownership and management of the land has been transferred to an eligible applicant. In this case, the Department is not satisfied that the applicant has full management control of the transferred land.

83.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a grant in respect of drainage will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The field drainage work in question was not completed by 31 December 1986 when the western drainage scheme expired. The EC Commission has been asked to extend the relevant Community regulation and pending a decision in the matter it is not possible to say whether a grant can be paid in this case.
