The report of the study of the Grand and Royal Canals carried out by consultants on behalf of the Commissioners of Public Works will include detailed recommendations for the management and development of the Royal Canal. The allocation of finance for development works will be considered when the report, which is at final drafting state, is available. Meanwhile necessary maintenance work continues to be carried out, the expenditure being met from Subhead H of the Vote for Public Works and Buildings.
