Vol. 373 No. 14

Written Answers. - Natural Gas.

67.

asked the Minister for Energy if, in the interests of encouraging exploration for, and ensuring continuity of supply of natural gas after Kinsale Head field is depleted, he has any plans to change the current offshore licensing terms; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

With a view to encouraging exploration both for oil and gas and the development of any discoveries, I have arranged for my Department to put in train a detailed review of the current offshore Licensing Terms. If, on completion of this review, it appears to me that significant changes in terms are necessary in order to ensure a reasonable level of exploitation, I will be recommending to the Government that such changes be implemented without delay.
