EC logbooks are examined by my Department's sea fishery protection officers and by the Naval Service in the course of normal monitoring and checking of fishing vessels to ensure that they are being completed correctly; the Community Logbook system became operative in this country during 1985 and the incidence of infringements detected are as follows:
