No decision has yet been taken as to when the next Garda recruitment competition will be held. As soon as a date has been decided details will be announced in the newspapers.
I am informed by the Garda authorities that arrangements are at present being made for the medical examination of a small number of candidates remaining from the last competition and if these candidates succeed in meeting the entry requirements, the question of appointing them to the Force early in 1988 will be considered.
