asked the Minister for Health the present progress on the provision of the new Tallaght Hospital, at Tallaght, Dublin 24, indicating the amount of the finances allocated for this project and the estimated opening date of the hospital; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The development of the hospital is to take place on a phased basis. Initial site works are in course of completion and detailed planning will be completed by the end of 1988. The first phase of the development will have about 450 beds and is expected to be completed in 1992-93.
The estimated cost of this phase is £43 million, of which, approximately £3 million has been spent to date.
