Vol. 376 No. 9

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

209.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he is making money available in the 1988 allocations to Sligo County Council for sanitary services, sewerage and water schemes, to carry out work on Lough Easkey water scheme phase 2; and, if so, the amount.

211.

asked the Minister for the Environment the estimated total cost of Lough Easkey water scheme phase 2 in County Sligo, the documentation for which has been lodged with his Department and the total works included in the plans, with details of the exact route of the piping.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 209 and No. 211 together.

Contract documents for the proposed Lough Easkey water supply scheme stage 2 are under consideration in my Department at present. The proposal must also be examined in the light of the limited capital available, the level of existing commitments and the competing demands from high priority schemes. I cannot indicate at this stage when I will be in a position to give approval to the proposal. The Deputy will appreciate that to reveal the estimated cost might prejudice the future tendering process.

The proposed pipeline would be laid to the west and east of the existing main at Dromore West. The western pipeline would terminate at Corbally Church while the eastern pipeline would terminate at Beltra with a branch main at Leekfield Townland to terminate at Carrowgilhoal Townland.

210.

asked the Minister for the Environment when he will sanction the Fairymount group water scheme application, County Roscommon, which has been submitted to his Department by Roscommon County Council.

Roscommon County Council have recently submitted to my Department a proposed design for certain headworks which would enable this group to take a water supply from the north Roscommon public water supply. This design is currently under examination in my Department and when the examination is completed the position in relation to the group scheme will be given further consideration.

212.

asked the Minister for the Environment the total money allocated in 1987 for sanitary services, sewerage schemes and water supply schemes to County Mayo; and the total allocated to County Sligo.

The capital allocations in 1987 for sanitary services schemes in Counties Mayo and Sligo were as follows:

£

Mayo County Council

1,777,419

Ballina UDC

30,000

Castlebar UDC

50,000

Westport UDC

Sligo County Council

422,541

Sligo Corporation

200,000

213.

asked the Minister for the Environment when work will commence on Carrick-on-Bannow sewerage scheme, County Wexford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I refer the Deputy to Question No. 149 of 16 June 1987. The position is unchanged.
