The Boarding Out of Children Regulations, which regulate the placement of children in foster care by health boards, were reviewed in 1983. A number of amendments were made to take account of changes in services and conditions since the regulations were made in 1954. The 1983 regulations have been widely welcomed by health boards and other interested parties. It will be necessary to undertake a major review of the regulations when the forthcoming Children Bill is enacted.
