Vol. 377 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Consumers' Association of Ireland.

17.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if his undoubted appreciation of the work of the Consumers Association of Ireland will extend to assisting it financially, with some form of grant-aid, in view of the recent cut back of its services arising from the cessation of certain EC funding; and if he will make representations on behalf of the association in relation to the replacement of such vital finances in order to ensure that the association's good work is in no way diminished.

I would like to reaffirm my appreciation of the valuable contribution which the Consumers' Association of Ireland makes to the protection and enhancement of consumers' interests. I have recently been giving careful consideration to a detailed submission made to me by the association in support of a request for funding and I have invited the association to meet me shortly to discuss the matter.

The Ministers are in very bad voice today. We cannot hear them very well.

Maybe the acoustics are not great. I hope they will be better later. I will repeat my reply.
