I represent Ireland at meetings of the Community's Internal Market Council of Ministers.
The Council has already considered the Commission's proposal for the mutual recognition of higher education diplomas on a number of occasions but because of the complex nature of the dossier, and differences between member states, discussions have been protracted. For this particular item I am, of course, briefed by the Minister for Education.
The Council has instructed the Committee of Permanent Representatives to continue examining the outstanding problems.
