asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the results of the special promotion campaign targeted on major industry suitable to the Shannon estuary promised by him in the Dáil on 31 March 1987 to be undertaken by the IDA; and if this promotion campaign has been in any way affected by the transfer of the IDa's industrial functions for the mid-west region to SFADCo.

During 1987 the Industrial Development Authority undertook a special international promotional campaign in Europe, the United States and the Far East highlighting the potential of the Shannon Eastuary for major port and water using industries. A number of site visits took place during 1987 and further visits are anticipated in the coming years.
It is not envisaged that these further visits or the promotion and development of the estuary will be affected by the transfer of the IDA's industrial functions for the mid-west region to SFADCo.
