Vol. 377 No. 1

Written Answers. - Navan Road Dublin By-Pass.

237.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give details of the present stage of the plans for the Navan Road by-pass at Blanchardstown, Dublin 15; if final approval has been sought from him for the road; if funds have been provided; and when work is likely to commence and likely to be completed.

On 2 November 1987, Dublin County Council submitted revised draft contract documents for the proposed Navan Road scheme to my Department for approval. These documents are currently the subject of discussions between the Department and the local authority.

Road grants totalling £2.346 million were paid to the local authority in respect of this scheme up to the end of December, 1987. The 1988 road grant allocation is £1 million.

The timing of this scheme is being considered in the context of the preparation of a blueprint for road development which I intend to publish within the next few months.
