Vol. 377 No. 1

Written Answers. - Admission Rates to Mental Hospitals.

269.

asked the Minister for Health the number of admission rates to mental hospitals for the treatment of schizophrenia in 1985, 1986 and 1987.

The Health Research Board compiles the information requested by the Deputy. The latest figures published by the Health Research Board are for 1984 and I have outlined the number of admissions and admission rates to Irish psychiatric hospitals and units for the treatment of schizophrenia for 1982, 1983 and 1984 in the following tables. The Health Research Board determined the 1982 admission rates by using the 1979 Census of Population and the 1983 and 1984 admission rates by using the 1981 Census of Population.
