Vol. 377 No. 1

Written Answers. - Permanent Teacher Appointment.

319.

asked the Minister for Education if she will confirm that a school (details supplied) in Dublin 24 is entitled to the appointment of a permanent teacher under rule 88 (3) of the Rules for National Schools having regard to the statement giving guidelines for Circular 20/87 which says that no change under Circular 20/87 will take place before the end of the school year June 1988 and the same wording contained in Circular 24/87; and if she will arrange that the new teacher appointed on a temporary basis will now be made permanent.

331.

asked the Minister for Education if, given that she has already stated that no change under Circular 20/87 will take place before the end of the school year, June, 1988 she will sanction the appointment of a permanent teacher in accordance with rule 88 (3) for St. Mark's senior national school, Tallaght, Dublin 24; and in particular, if she will note that this school currently has 860 students and will have over 900 by next September, thus confirming the need for a permanent rather than temporary appointment.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 319 and 331 together.

I would refer the Deputies to my reply to Question No. 286 of 15 December 1987.
