I am informed by the Industrial Development Authority that, on the basis of its annual employment surveys the net number of jobs lost in manufacturing industry in each of the years 1985 to 1987 was 5,646, 3,510 and 4,724 respectively.
The trend in the period 1985 to 1987 when total net jobs lost amounted to 13,880 shows a major improvement over the previous three year period when 25,878 jobs were lost.
