Vol. 377 No. 1

Written Answers. - National Development Corporation.

55.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce with regard to the National Development Corporation, if he will outline its current level of activity, staffing, general performance and funding; and if he will indicate whether he has any development or other plans for the corporation.

NADCORP's capital allocation for 1988 amounts to £6 million. Its grant-in-aid for 1988 is £700,000.

The corporation's annual report for 1986, which was laid before the Houses of the Oireachtas on 1 September 1987 gave an account of its activities, staffing and general performance to 14 May 1987. As I have no function in relation to the day-to-day operations of the corporation it would not be appropriate for me to comment further on the work of NADCORP in advance of the publication of its Annual Report for 1987. This is required to be made to me not later than 30 June, 1988.

In the Government's Programme for National Recovery it is indicated that NADCORP will continue an active, innovative and developmental role in the provision of investment capital to indigenous enterprises and will actively seek out projects of national and strategic importance. I do not have any other plans for the corporation at this time.
