Vol. 377 No. 1

Written Answers. - Market Entry and Development Scheme.

58.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the present position regarding the market entry and development scheme contained in the former Government's White Paper on Industrial Policy; whether this scheme is being sustained, modified or abandoned; and the assistance, if any, which is currently available under this scheme.

The market entry and development scheme which was introduced in 1985, is being maintained.

A specific provision of £1.25 million has been made for the scheme, which is operated by CTT on my behalf, in the Industry and Commerce Vote in the Book of Estimates for 1988.

The levels of assistance to an individual firm, currently available under the scheme, are up to £40,000 in grants and up to £400,000 in repayable loans guaranteed by the Minister.
