Vol. 377 No. 1

Written Answers. - Excise Duty Rebate.

77.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will make arrangements to ensure that the sum to which a person (details supplied) in Dublin 16 is entitled, by way of an excise duty rebate as a disabled driver on the purchase of a car, be paid immediately; and the reason for the delay in the rebate being paid.

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that a repayment of excise duty was made to the person in question under the disabled drivers scheme on 16 December 1987 in respect of a motor vehicle purchased by her.

The commissioners had earlier been unable to satisfy themselves as to the claimant's eligibility for repayment but were subsequently in a position to do so in the light of further medical evidence as to the claimant's disability which was furnished in the latter part of November 1987.
