Vol. 377 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Milk Quota.

63.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if he will outline his proposals in relation to the national milk quota restructuring scheme; if he will indicate when he expects to have available a draft regulation in connection with the scheme; and whether he will accept submissions from interested parties on the draft regulation before the Statutory Instrument is finalised.

Following consultation with the farming and co-operative organisations, full details of the arrangements to be adopted for the milk quota restructuring scheme were published in the national press on 14 September 1987. Under these arrangements the co-ops and dairies have been authorised, subject to general criteria, to operate separate schemes for their own areas. Already a number of these schemes has been approved by my Department for implementation in the areas concerned.

As there is a specific Community Regulation governing the scheme our national super levy regulations require only minor amendments. It is hoped to have the amending regulation available shortly. In the meantime I am of course, prepared to consider any submissions from interested parties in the matter.
