asked the Minister for the Marine whether he has finalised his plans for the future of the regional fisheries boards; the number of boards he plans to have; the way in which they will be funded; if Wexford will continue to be divided as it is at present between an eastern and southern board; and if fishermen will have a prime role to play in the new board.

I have been examining the structure of the central and regional fisheries boards. Factors such as those raised by the Deputy are being taken into account in my examination. I have not yet finalised my proposals in the matter but I hope to be in a position to make recommendations to Government shortly.
