Vol. 377 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dingle (Kerry) Harbour.

41.

asked the Minister for the Marine, arising out of reply to Parliamentary Question No. 150 on Wednesday 24 June 1987 in which he stated that he had received a detailed report and estimate of cost for carrying out repair works to Dingle harbour, County Kerry amounting to £1.2 million, if he will now give the reason for the new studies as stated in reply to Parliamentary Questions Nos. 192 and 196 on Wednesday 27 January 1988; and if he will confirm that £2 million has been allocated for the said project as announced in the media in January 1988.

The report referred to in the reply to Parliamentary Question No. 150 dealt in the main with the proposed dredging of the existing approach channel to restore it to its original status.

Having considered the matter further I felt that a more comprehensive study of the harbour and its facilities was warranted. As I mentioned in reply to the Deputy on 27 January a decision regarding financing will not be taken until the plan is finalised and costed.
