The revised pupil-teacher ratio in respect of vocational schools will apply to all vocational education committees and will take effect from the commencement of the 1988-89 school year. Teaching staff allocations are made by my Department to the VECs on a committee-wide basis and not in respect of individual schools. The deployment of teaching staff to individual schools is a matter for each VEC.
The County Galway VEC have represented their situation to my Department in connection with the allocation of teaching staff to be made for the 1988-89 session. Similar representations have also been received from public representatives.
