Vol. 377 No. 8

Written Answers. - County Kildare Drainage Problem.

71.

asked the Minister for Finance if his attention has been drawn to a land drainage problem at Hazelhatch, Celbridge, County Kildare, which seems to originate in the vicinity of the Grand Canal; if he will institute drainage plans to alleviate the problem; if his Department has received any report setting out the cause or causes of the problem; the way in which the difficulty might be resolved; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The Commissioners of Public Works are aware of a flooding problem in the Hazelhatch area which, investigation has shown, is caused by the overgrown condition of section of a stream, the Shinkeen stream. It is the responsibility of the owner of the land through which this section of the stream passes to clear it and his attention has been drawn to the matter.
