Vol. 377 No. 8

Written Answers. - Leixlip, Kildare, Plant Workers.

102.

asked the Minister for Labour whether all outstanding redundancy payments have been made to the former workers of the IMP meat processing plant at Leixlip, County Kildare; if all minimum notice payments due have been paid; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

My Department have paid directly to 234 former employees of the company concerned a total of £518,803 in statutory redundancy lump sums from the Redundancy and Employers' Insolvency Fund. Two of those employees are due small supplementary payments on foot of revised applications and these payments will be issued shortly.

Also, a total of £336,554 has been issued to the receiver of the company to enable him to pay minimum notice awards by the Employment Appeals Tribunal to 235 former employees. I understand that the receiver has made payments to all of the employees except seven, in respect of whom the amount of the entitlements involved was issued to the receiver only in the last few days.

My Department have one remaining application on hands for payment of arrears of holiday pay and this will be dealt with as soon as further information which has been requested from the receiver is supplied. If any former employee considers that he or she is entitled to payment of a statutory redundancy lump sum, arrears of holiday pay or wages or minimum notice, he should contact the receiver or my Department.
