Vol. 377 No. 9

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

101.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food the total amount of farm grants due for payment in 1987 which were held over for payment; and when those entitled to receive payment will be paid.

At 31 December 1987 the aggregate amount of approved but unpaid grants under farm investment schemes was approximately £9 million. All claims under each scheme are dealt with strictly in order of receipt. Payments which are being phased in such a way as to ensure adherence to the amount provided in the Vote are made as early as possible.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Kerry will receive payment of a farm improvement grant.

A claim under the farm improvement programme for payment of a grant of £1,367 has been received and will be paid as soon as practicable. All claims under the programme are dealt with strictly in order of receipt. Payments are being phased in such a way as to ensure adherence to the amount provided in the Vote. Consequently, there is some delay in making grant payments.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Kerry will receive payment of a farm improvement scheme grant.

Payment of a grant under the programme for western development to the person concerned does not arise at this stage since no approval for the work envisaged has yet issued. In 1984 the applicant was informed that planning permission was necessary for the proposed buildings. To date the farm development service have not been informed that this requirement has been fulfilled.

A grant of £1,130 under the farm improvement programme was paid recently.

106.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment of a young farmer installation grant; and the reason any delay should occur in issuing payment.

The processing of the application in this case has been completed and the applicant has been deemed eligible to participate in the scheme. Payment of the premium will be made as soon as practicable and I will inform the Deputy at the appropriate time.

All premia are paid strictly in the order in which eligibility is established. Payments are being phased in such a way as to ensure adherence to the amount provided in the Vote. Consequently, there is some delay in payment of the premia.

107.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when a person (details supplied) in County Cork will receive payment of a cow suckler grant.

The person named recently supplied information in regard to his 1986 suckler cow scheme application which enabled my Department to approve his application. The grants will be paid shortly.
