Vol. 378 No. 3

Written Answers. - National Council for Curriculum and Assessment.

146.

asked the Minister for Education if she will arrange that the management body of community and comprehensive schools ACS, will be included in the course committee structures of the new Curricular Council since the other two management bodies JMB and IVEA are included already.

I do not intend to amend the composition of course committees at present.

The composition of the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment and that of its course committees were designed to ensure that they would be able to advise me in the most effective, efficient and timely way on curriculum reform and related matters.

Since course committees report directly to the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment and respond to its needs, I am confident that the interests of the management body of community and comprehensive schools (ACS) will be effectively represented by its nominee on the Council. Through its representative on the Council the ACS will be able to be fully briefed on a regular basis on the ongoing work of course committees and to contribute in a very meaningful way to the process of curriculum reform.
