Vol. 378 No. 7

Written Answers. - National Lottery Beneficiaries.

90.

asked the Minister for Health if he will allocate funds from the 1988 lottery proceeds to the Spina Bifida Association in County Meath and nationally, to help them carry on the work they are doing in this area of child health care; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have on hands a very considerable number of applications from voluntary agencies for assistance from the national lottery funds which have been allocated to my Department including one from the Irish Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus. I expect to be in a position to reach a final decision in the near future and the successful agencies will be notified immediately at that stage.

asked the Minister for Health if he will allocate finance from the 1988 lottery proceeds to Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, County Meath, who are at the moment engaged in raising funds for a scanner; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have not received any formal request for funds towards the purchase of a scanner for Our Lady's Hospital, Navan from the North-Eastern Health Board. If such a request were received it would have to be considered for funding in the context of the fact that there are many high priority demands which cannot at present be met.
