Vol. 379 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Wexford School Extension.

134.

asked the Minister for Education in relation to the proposed primary school extension for a school (details supplied) in County Wexford if the six room extension which was previously approved remains sanctioned; or if this is being reduced to a five room extension approval; if the current plans with her Department are acceptable to her; and if so, when the board of management will be informed.

As I indicated to the Deputy in reply to his parliamentary question on 1 December 1987, there has been a fall in the enrolments at the school referred to by him. An enrolments projection for the school has recently been completed and on this basis it is expected that only five permanent classrooms will be needed in the medium and longer term. It will be necessary, therefore, to modify the extension plans which had been prepared, to provide for five classrooms only.

My Department will communicate with the school authorities in the matter at an early date.
