The building project for the proposed new national school at Shercock, County Cavan, is ready for the invitation of tenders. However, because of the pressure on the capital available to my Department for the national schools building programme, I am not in a position to indicate when it will be possible to authorise the project to proceed.
In the meantime, my Department will consider any reasonable request from the school authorities for grant-aid towards the cost of essential improvements to the school's existing accommodation.
