asked the Minister for the Environment the moneys which are being allocated to Donegal County Council in the current year for national primary and national secondary road funds; and where this money is to be spent.

Road grants totalling £3.261 million have been allocated to Donegal County Council for 1988 in respect of works on national primary and national secondary routes. Details of the grants notified are as follows:—

The grants notified are designed to meet authorised expenditure incurred between 1 December 1987 and 30 November 1988 and any authorised expenditure incurred before 30 November 1987 which was not recouped by the Department at the end of 1987.

The preparation of programmes for the expenditure of grants for works at locations which have not been specified by the Department is primarily a matter for the local authority.
