Vol. 379 No. 7

Written Answers. - Flights from the USA and Canada.

26.

asked the Minister for Tourism and Transport if his attention has been drawn to the disquiet among Aer Lingus employees about proposals which the company are examining in relation to direct flights from the USA and Canada into Dublin; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I have no proposals before me from Aer Lingus for direct flights into Dublin from the USA or Canada and I am not aware of any disquiet among Aer Lingus employees in that regard.

It is now established Government policy that Shannon Airport is Ireland's only transatlantic gateway and that all designated scheduled air carriers operating to/from Ireland across the North Atlantic are obliged to serve that airport in both directions.
